Fugro Engineers developed different cable simulation modules for clients and sister companies.
- Computational module for an ROV umbilical simulation. This cable simulation software has been designed to predict, in real-time, the shape and motion of the cable under given sea conditions and as a function of the ROV movements imposed by the operator.
- Cable Simulation Module (CSM) library which is now used in Starfix Anchors. This module predicts in real time catenary shape and supports multiple catenary touchdowns as well as floatation buoys. It can interact with a DTM. The Cable Simulation Module (CSM) is a stateless solver library that predicts the shape of cables under specified boundary conditions. The computational basis for the CSM solver is a damped explicit time-integration scheme applied to a discretised model of line elements.
